The Sarcoma Center Bern is one of Switzerland's leading centers for the treatment of benign and malignant tumors of soft tissue and bone.

Sarcomas are very rare, malignant tumors that arise from the supporting or connective tissue. They most commonly appear on the arms and legs, but can occur anywhere in the body. This is how, for example, the GIST tumors (gastrointestinal stromal tumors) in the abdominal cavity. In total, there are over 100 different types of sarcomas known. According to their origin, they can be classified into:

  • Bone sarcomas (including osteosarcoma, chondrosarcoma, Ewing sarcoma)
  • Soft tissue sarcomas (including liposarcoma, leiomyosarcoma, rhabdomyosarcoma, angiosarcoma, synovial sarcoma)
  • GIST (gastrointestinal stromal tumors)

If a sarcoma or GIST is suspected, we will immediately carry out all necessary tests, including a tissue sample. Once the diagnosis has been confirmed, a team of experienced tumor experts will create your individual treatment concept and discuss it with you in detail.
